Newton Astro Club
A Jack Newton project
Join Jack on his journey through the stars
Jack Newton is a Canadian astronomer recognized worldwide for his publications and images in amateur astrophotography. Jack took his first photograph of Saturn when he was just 13 years old and never looked back.
67 years later, Jack has discovered or co-discovered 210 supernovaes. A pioneer in astrophotgraphy, Jack also took the first ever CCD colour image of a celestial object.
Point your telescope to the skies to see minor planet 30840 Jackalice, named in honour of Jack and his wife Alice for their contributions to astronomy.
Jack and his team created Newton Astro Club to bring together a community of space enthusiasts.
